ORG Chem Group says tanker that spilled chemical was over-pressurized

Local News

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – The tanker truck which spewed a chemical on cars Monday was over-pressurized according to ORG Chem Group.

The leak happened Monday morning and prompted a HAZMAT response.

The cleanup shut down the Lloyd Expressway on the Vanderburgh-Warrick County line.

According to ORG Chem Group, the tanker was hauling non-hazardous liquid waste.

Officials said it has a similar risk to household bleach.

The safety device worked to relieve pressure.

That caused six gallons of waste to spill.

ORG Chem Group specializes in refining and reclaiming fluids and oils.

Several first responders went to the hospital to get checked out, but no one ended up hurt because of the spill.
