EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The agency overseeing water quality in the Ohio River agrees to new standards for pollution levels.
ORSANCO will allow states to regulate pollutants put into the river, while the agency regulates pollution levels within the river.
Environmentalists have criticized this change, saying it will help industries while harming the health of people.
ORSANCO insists the new regulations will still protect public health and simply let ORSANCO calculate pollution levels in a different way.
