OTWELL, Ind. (WEHT) – A superhero is headed home to Pike County and will be welcomed back with his very own parade.
Four-year-old River Harbin has endured numerous surgeries and received his “hero heart” in a transplant last month.
BIG SMILES: River Harbin, his brother and his mom, right before his homecoming parade through Otwell. I am not exaggerating when I say it seems like the whole town turned out to show their support for this incredible little boy. If you’re unfamiliar with River’s story, he has gained over 12,000 supporters on the Facebook group, “River Harbin’s Prayer Warriors”.
That’s where his family has kept followers informed every step of his journey.
River was born with cardiomyopathy. He received a heart at Riley’s Children’s Hospital last month, after being hospitalized back in November.
Obviously, this is a very exciting homecoming a long time in the making.
On Facebook, his family has asked that no one approach River during the parade directly as he continues healing.
