As the weather gets colder, more and more Tri-Staters break out the winter coats and a Western Kentucky bank is once again making sure everyone is bundled up.
Independence Bank started its ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ coat giveaway.
Coats, gloves, and other items will be on hangers posted on utility poles and other places across the city, free for people who need one.
So far, 50 coats have been put out for use.
“We just decided to get a head start on it,” said Kevin Kabalen with Independence Bank. “We wanted to do more for the community this year. We felt we got a late start last time, the second week of February, getting in to March and April When it starts to warm up a little bit, coats are sometimes not that big a necessity. We decided to start before Christmas this time and really get out there and really get a lot more coats in to the community this time.”
Last year a hundred coats were put out for free.
Bank officials say the drive will run as long as supplies last.
