Owensboro Fire Department responds to fire at Price Less Foods

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – An overnight fire damaged an Owensboro grocery store around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said they responded to a burglar alarm at Price Less Foods store on Scherm Rd. when they found the store full of smoke.

The fire chief said the fire appears to be accidental and they are looking at a beverage cooler as a possible cause.

Store managers credited first responders for their quick response.

Store managers also said they’ll be closed while workers clean the store and replace the merchandise.

OWENSBORO. Ky. (WEHT) — The Owensboro Fire Department’s Facebook page says they’ve been working a fire early Tuesday morning at Price Less Foods on Scherm Road.

The department says Owensboro Police responded to the fire shortly after 3 on Tuesday morning.

The OFD Facebook page says the fire was quickly found and extinguished, and that smoke had filled the store as well as the adjacent storefront which is currently vacant.

Officers say they found the store full of smoke and called Owensboro Fire Department.

The department says the cause is under investigation, and that the store will be closed on Tuesday for the investigation.

The page says that the store will not open for business on Tuesday.
