Owensboro girl wins Freshman Division at National Braille Challenge

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — Carmynn Blakely of Owensboro competed in the National Braille Challenge, winning the Freshman Division during last week’s challenge in Los Angeles.

Carmynn Blakely also won the Excellence in Spelling Award, according to the Braille Institute.

Blakeley was one of 50 contestants competing in different divisions.

She prepared for the challenge by reading, studying, and writing.
