OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – An Owensboro man is charged with attempted murder of a police officer after a chase began in town, and ended with crash miles away in Daviess County.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said their investigation began with a crash on Veach Road around 11:00 p.m. Sunday. Police say a vehicle involved in the crash sped away from that scene nearly hitting several first responders.

Deputies said the vehicle being driven by Timothy Webster was later spotted on Highway 56 west of town. During the chase, deputies said Webster eventually crashed into a ditch at the intersection of 56 and Highway 500 in St. Joseph.

After trying to run, Webster was caught and arrested. The sheriff’s office said a loaded AR-15 and 4 lbs of marijuana were found in the vehicle.

In addition to attempted murder of a police officer, Webster is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, DUI, and several other charges.
