Owensboro Police arrest shooting suspect

Owensboro Police have confirmed an arrest has been made following a shooting Tuesday night.

19-year-old Jahlil Barrett is charged with assault in the Daviess County Detention Center.

Two men have been taken to the hospital, both with gunshot wounds.

Police say both men were sot at least twice. One was shot in both legs. The other was shot in an arm and a leg.

Authorities say the men were at a home on East 20th Street when they heard a knock on the door and recognized Barrett.

Poliec said the men told them the shots were fired after door was open.

Police report that a neighbor of one of the men drove him to the hospital around 10:00 p.m.

Authorities say while on the way to the hospital, the victim said that the other man had also been shot in the same incident.

Both men are expected to survive their injuries.

Barrett was booked into the jail around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

Several detectives are investigating the shooting.
