OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – Steve Bratcher has been named the new Chief Academic Officer for Owensboro Public Schools.

Bratcher will take over the role most recently held by Dr. Matthew Constant on July 1. Constant was named OPS Superintendent in March.

Bratcher is currently the principal at Newton Parrish Elementary. He’s been with the district for 27 years.

OPS says Bratcher will work closely with interim CAO Anita Burnette to prepare for the transition.

Bratcher will be responsible for providing oversight, support, and direction to the departments of curriculum, instruction, assessment, fine arts, digital learning, gap populations, and special education.
