Phase three of a major road construction project in Warrick County is kicking off Monday.
It’s going to impact a long-time residential area near Newburgh.
It will affect traffic on Lincoln Ave. between Bell Rd. and SR 261.
Crews are widening that stretch of Lincoln Ave. and also adding new storm sewers and sidewalks.
Before the work can begin, all the trees have to be cleared.
Utility crews will also have to relocate power lines and poles.
Lincoln Ave. will only be open to those who live in the area.
Everyone else will need to detour using SR 66.
This project is expected to take a year and a half.
Right now, the target date is August 2018.
You can keep up with the progress on social media.
There’s an active Twitter account and a website dedicated to the project.
Lincoln Avenue will be closed to thru traffic beginning 2/6/17, but access will be maintained to properties at all times. See detour route: pic.twitter.com/QlvlfypWt6— Lincoln Ave Ph III (@OuterLincolnAve) February 3, 2017
