Part of US 41 to close next week for railroad crossing removal

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced a complete road closure on US 41 between Virginia St. and the Lloyd Expressway, in order to remove the railroad crossing there.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, crews will close all lanes of US 41 from SR 62 to Walnut St. as crews work to remove the crossing.

The project will require the removal of the rails and repair of the pavement.

It should take at least two days.

The work was originally scheduled for September 30, but officials learned of a federally mandated 15-day waiting period before removing railroad tracks.
