Pastor Thankful His Church Still Stands Following Tornado

The National Weather Service is still inspecting several areas across southern Indiana, but officials say the survey teams are expected to link the damage to a powerful F3 tornado.

Eyewitness News was provided with drone video overlooking County Road 1000 and Highway 165 near Poseyville.

Cody Cox used a drone to get an aerial view. It shows how selective a tornado can be in the damage it causes—how it can show mercy for some people, and heartbreak for others.

Eyewitness News’ Greg Parker spoke with Pastor Baret Fawbush of Old Union Christian Church who said the doors to his church were open since the calm before the storm.

Fawbush said, in a community like that, helping neighbors is one of it’s strongest assets.

Fawbush said the church was lucky it wasn’t wiped away. The only damage was on the roof area, but the playground and everything else that was outside is gone.
