Patti’s 1880’s settlement competed in the great Christmas light fight tonight.
Unfortunately, they missed out on the $50,000 prize up for grabs.
employees of Patti’s 1880’s Settlement finally got to see themselves tonight on the Great Christmas Light Fight. While the results didn’t go their way, they’re still proud of the work they’ve done.
“Glad to be a part of it,” says Zach Adams was one of 10 workers who put the lights up at Patti’s for this episode.
“We used ladders, and all sorts of other equipment. Lifts and bucket trucks to go up in the trees,” he says, describing what it took to put the lights up. He says he was proud to be a part of the experience, despite the pressure of competing on national TV.
“It was my first year doing it,” Adams recalled.
Patti’s competed against places in Indiana, Ohio and Florida in the heavyweight division, but lost out on the $50,000 prize to historic Clifton Mill outside Dayton, Ohio. Each competitor used millions of lights. Patti’s used 1.3 million Christmas lights.
“It’s a dream come true,” says owner Chip Tullar says he enjoyed the experience, and believed everyone at Patti’s still won despite the result.
“My staff is a winner and to be chosen one of four businesses in all of the United States, and we’re in a town of 350 people, what an honor. It’s such a magnificent honor.”
Tullar also says the Christmas light display will be back better than ever once all the rebuilding from the fire earlier this year is done.
