HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – U.S. Senator Rand Paul has announced that a piece of his lung has been removed in a surgery done in Nashville over the weekend.
Monday morning, the Kentucky Senator tweeted that he will have to limit his activities in congress over the month of August due to the surgery.
Unfortunately, I will have to limit my August activities. Part of my lung damaged by the 2017 assault had to be removed by surgery this weekend. The doctors, nurses, & staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center were great. I should be able to return to the Senate in September— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) August 5, 2019
Paul said the lung that had to be partially removed was damaged in a 2017 assault involving his next door neighbor.
Rene Boucher pleaded guilty to assaulting Paul in 2018.
Paul plans to return to the U.S. Senate in September.
