Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Some people received medical treatment after a truck crashed into the back of a city bus in Evansville.

It happened on East Riverside Drive near South Grand Avenue.

A passenger on the bus tells Eyewitness News the bus was stopped in front of Zesto’s around 4 p.m.

We’re told the bus had its hazard lights on when it was rear-ended by that truck.

The passenger says the truck was driven by a man who left the scene.

She says there was also a female passenger in the truck who suffered a head injury when they hit the windshield.

“The whole bus jolted, a couple of them came out of their seats. It was a hard enough hit to hurt our backs. The girl that was in the truck that hit us, her head went through the windshield and she fell out. The driver…Nobody knows where the driver of that truck that hit the bus is,” said Nicole McCarter, a passenger on the bus.

She says at least 5 people on the bus were injured.

Another bus was sent to the scene to pick up the remaining passengers.
