Plan in place to restore historic Evansville house hit twice by vehicles

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A historic, downtown house was hit twice earlier this year, but crews now have a plan in place to restore the house built in 1868.

A truck first crashed into the house on Riverside Dr. in May.

An SUV then hit the truck while it was still in the house a few days later.

After weeks of planning and analyzing, crews decided to place steel panels through the house which will hold it up as they repair the bottom.

Crews said they expect repairs to last into next year.
