Plans to bring in a new store from the country's second largest retailer continue to move forward in Evansville.
Costco is planning on building a massive store on Evansville's east side.
It would be wedged between Cross Pointe Blvd. and Oak Grove Rd.
Monday, project and city officials met to discuss Costco's preliminary plans for the store.
Those plans call for a store that's more than 150,000 square feet.
The project is still in the very early stages, but the Director of the Area Plan Commission Ron London said everything has been moving along smoothly.
“Going through site review is a helpful process to the business community because we have everybody in one location being able to talk through their project and to be able to get throught he one-stop permitting process,” said London.
The preliminary plans still need to go to the Area Plan Commission, who will make a recommendation on whether to rezone the property.
That will happen in April.
From there, the city council will vote on the rezoning.
No construction date has been set.
