Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A Jasper teen is facing charges after police say he met a juvenile on Snapchat and robbed him.

Police in Evansville were sent to the 1400 block of East Virginia Street on Friday just before midnight after a juvenile claimed he was robbed.

The juvenile told police he needed a ride, so he got on Snapchat to see if anyone close could help him out.

According to a police report, 18-year-old Wesley Potts and four juveniles came to pick up the victim.

Police say the victim took off running after someone pulled out a bat, then he was tackled from behind. The victim said his shoes and backpack were taken, then the suspects took off in a van.

Potts and the other juveniles were later located. Potts was taken to jail and charged with robbery.

Police say when questioned, Potts said his friend wanted to rob the victim because he didn’t like him.
