Allstate Insurance Company is hosting a car seat safety event Friday, starting at noon, to help ensure that children are riding safely on the road.

Website safekids.org reports that 73% of car seats are not used or installed correctly. Yet, correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of injury or death by 71%.

At the event, certified car seat technicians from Owensboro Health and Owensboro Police Department will be on site to inspect all brands of car seats and make sure they are installed correctly, and meet current safety standard.

In addition to the inspections, drivers can learn more about new laws, how to be safe on the road and gain expert advice from car seat technicians and agents.

During the event, four 80-piece home safety kits will be raffled off.

Goodie bags with coloring books and safety information will be given out.

The Car Seat Safety Check event is free and open to the public.

The Owensboro Convention Center is located at 501 W. 2nd Street.
