A poll by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky says 22% of people in western Kentucky reported having family members or friends experiencing issues as a result of abusing prescription drugs.

This rate is comparable to the state of Kentucky as a whole, the poll said.

In the poll, 34% of Kentuckians said they had pain medication in the five years up to and including 2017. That’s down from 55% in a 2011 poll.
