Posey County sewer improvement project updated

Local News

POSEY COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – The Posey County Regional Sewer District board gave updates to the Wadesville and Blairsville sewer improvement project Thursday night.

President Aaron Wilson says the need for improvements has been with the county for a few decades.

The plan is to install a low-pressure sewer system in the area for about 520 people.

It is an $11 million project.

Connections to the sewer system are not mandatory, so people can opt-out.

But, no septic system repair permits will be issued after the project is finished. Officials say if someone wants to hook up to the system after the project is done, they will have to pay for that cost.

Public bidding is expected to start in late December of 2020 or early January of 2021.

Construction is planned to start in April of 2021.

Most residents that use the system will pay 85 dollars a month.
