Mayor Lloyd Winnecke held his Traveling City Hall on Wednesday night focusing on four project to improve quality of life in Evansville.
“Build 4 Evansville” quality of life initiatives were announced in April. Its focus on updating the Mesker Amphitheatre, Roberts Park, a new indoor pool to replace Lloyd Pool, and a new South American penguin exhibit at Mesker Park Zoo.
People were asked on Wednesday night to listen to the plans and voice opinions and concerns. Many say they would like to see the Mesker Amphitheatre be saved.
“I saw a couple of bands there in the 60’s,” said Gene Lyons. “It was an excellent place to see a music venue. I don’t see how it could have just fallen into ruin like that.”
Mayor Winnecke says making improvements to these four attractions is important for economic development of the city as well as the quality of life for residents.
