Railroad track removal on HWY 41 delayed

Local News

Evansville, IN (WEHT) INDOT is delaying the removal of the railroad tracks at HWY-41 and Virginia.

The original plan was to close HWY-41 at Walnut to Morgan Ave. on Sept. 30 for two days. Crews would then removed the rarely used track.

INDOT officials say they have recently learned about a federally mandated 15-day waiting period that must be observed before removing the tracks. The waiting period is for informal or formal public comment on the operation.

The railroad removal is now expected to be pushed back to October.
