EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – When summer hits, so do the higher electric bills from running the air conditioner in our homes all in the name of keeping cool when the temperatures heat up. Energy Star, the federal program from the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency recommends, for maximum energy efficiency, you should keep your thermostat at these temperatures:
• 78° F when
you’re at home
• 85° F when you’re at work or away
• 82° F when you’re sleeping
Eyewitness News’, Kelly Austin caught up with some area citizens to see what they thought about the recommendation.
Kelly also spoke with Alyssia Oshodi, Vectren’s Sr. Communications Specialist, to find out what energy-efficient temperature they recommend to their customers.
