Record Travel Expected Fourth of July Weekend

Local News

Whether you are heading to Holiday World this weekend or visiting family members, it’s going to be a record-breaker when it comes to Independence Day travel this year.

More than 43 million people are expected to drive or fly over the next five days.

Most people will be hitting the roads and if you’re been out in the Tri-State at all, you’ve probably noticed the extra traffic.

Lots of boats are heading south to Kentucky Lake because of lower gas prices.

The Fourth of July is usually the summer holiday with the most travel.

This year, experts say it will be even busier because of those low gas prices.

Independence Day is also considered one of the deadliest on the highways.

Alcohol was a factor in 40% of the traffic deaths over the holiday weekend last year.
