The American Red Cross is reporting an emergency blood shortage across the nation, and it needs the public’s help.
Red Cross officials say hospitals are using blood faster than donations are coming in. Nationwide, the Red Cross says it’s about 40,000 donations short of what it needs.
They say the Summer months are among the most challenging to collect blood with 4th of July and vacations.
The Red Cross is asking any eligible donors to give as soon as possible.
There will be a blood drive on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Red Cross on Stockwell Rd. in Evansville
