Restaurants join together for ‘The Great American Takeout’ day

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — If a trip to the grocery isn’t in the cards for you on Tuesday, you might consider supporting a local restaurant, if they’re offering takeout.

Restaurants around the country are teaming up on Tuesday for a day they’re calling ‘The Great American Takeout.’

A coalition of restaurants are calling on everyone in the nation to order out.

Some are even offering deals and free delivery.

The coalition include companies like Panera Bread, Jason’s Deli and Veggie Grill.

The push comes as the restaurant industry struggles with the coronavirus pandemic.

The industry estimates up to seven million people will lose their jobs in the next three months because of the pandemic.
