Safety improvements planned for Henderson’s Riverwalk

Local News

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Downtown Henderson’s popular Riverwalk is getting a safety improvement.

The 2.6-mile Riverwalk has a gap above Sunset Park where the sidewalk ends.

Walkers and joggers have to cross the street a block before rejoining the path on the Ohio River.

City officials are going to close that gap by adding a boardwalk where the sidewalk ends to where it starts again.

“It’s going to be a safety improvement because people do not have to cross the street if they are on the Riverwalk.”

There will also be an overlook area with benches looking down at the playground.

The project is expected to be complete this fall.
