Santa Claus, Indiana has new holiday postmark

SANTA CLAUS, Ind. (WEHT) – Every year little boys and girls send letters to Santa and some of those are sent to St. Nick in the town of Santa Claus, Indiana.

Now, the little town’s post office has chosen a special picture for their postmark this holiday season.

Each year the holiday postmark is designed by a local high school student in an annual contest.

The postmark for this year is Santa and his reindeer created by Morgan Vaal. Vaal is now a freshman at USI and is pursuing her nursing degree.

People from all over the world request this postmark.

Some even drive into town to make sure their holiday mail is sent with it.

The town receives over 400,000 pieces of mail in December – compared to only 13,000 pieces of mail per month for the rest of the year.

The Santa Claus postmark has been offered every Christmas since 1983.
