BOONVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The beach and water slide at Scales Lake reopened Friday, as E. coli levels went back within the normal range.
Park officials closed the beach off to swimming earlier this week, after a weekly test showed E. coli levels slightly higher than the limit.
Officials said this was likely caused by contaminated animal waste and increased rainfall.
Employees retested the water on Thursday, finding E. coli levels back in a safe range for swimmers.
Some in Warrick County believe this was the first time the beach had to be shut down due to E. coli.
