Sebree Elementary School closed, water restored

SEBREE, Ky (WEHT) People in Sebree spent most of Tuesday morning without water due to two separate water main issues in less than 24 hours.

Water has since been restored.

An emergency bypass was set up after a contractor hit a water main Monday. The city manager says the bypass came apart early Tuesday morning which resulted in the entire city being without water.

Customers at the EZ Shop tried to buy their morning fountain drink or coffee but were met with an out of order sign. Hot breakfast foods could not be cooked, either,

The Dollar General store had bottled water, but it was running out fast.

One grandmother resorted to creative measures to help her grandsons get ready for school.

“They went to grab bottles of water and went to the bathroom, unscrewed them and I stood over them and poured the water on their head,” said Veronica Greenwell, “Then they shampooed and I poured more water to rinse their hair then left them then they washed it with bottled water. It was a sight to see.”

Water service was restored around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

A boil advisory is in effect until further notice.
