WASHINGTON, D.C. (WEHT) — Indiana US Senator Mike Braun says to solve the budget deficit, the federal government needs to make cuts across the board.
He says when it comes to the Defense Re-Authorization Act, the government needs to focus on being efficient.
Braun says defense is the number one priority, but we need to live within our means.
Otherwise, trust funds will be depleted.
Braun says he will be voting against the act because it busts the budget.
“I think we need raises for our troops and the people that put their lives on the line. If we keep defending things that are our favorite projects without taking into the entirety, we’re not gonna turn around trillion-dollar deficits.”
He favors one percent cut backs to bring government back into accountability.
