OGDEN DUNES. Ind. (WEHT) – Karen Tallian announced Wednesday that she has opened a campaign to run for Indiana Attorney General.

Senator Tallian, who has been in the Indiana Senate since 2005, was re-elected in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018.

She is currently the Senate Democrat caucus chair, is the Ranking Member of the Appropriations Committee and sits on the State Budget Committee.  She also serves on the Committees for Corrections & Criminal Code, Pensions & Labor, and Energy & Environment.

The senator is well known as the first legislator to call for reform of marijuana laws.

She has for years persistently offered bills to decriminalize marijuana possession and to allow for use of medical marijuana.
