Sharon Elementary School students started their day with plenty of “Hello’s”

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – Sharon Elementary School in Newburgh is just one of thousands of schools across the country to take part in the Sandy Hook Promise “Start With Hello Week”.

And there were plenty of hello’s to go around as several community leaders came out to say hello and greet the students as they arrived at school Wednesday morning.

Start With Hello Week raises awareness about social isolation and educates students and the community on how to prevent it through: Start With Hello training, awareness, activities, public proclamations, student contests and school awards.

Eyewitness News’ Kelly Austin got to talk with some of the people who came out to help greet, encourage, high-five, and say “Hello” to the kids upon arrival.
