OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – The ongoing need for substitute teachers is something that school districts across the state are struggling to fill.

In an effort to recruit new substitute teachers, Owensboro Public Schools will be hosting a substitute recruitment day Tuesday, October 1.

There will be two separate sessions in order to best accommodate those who are interested.

The sessions will be from 11-noon and 4-5 p.m.

The purpose is to attract individuals who are interested in being a substitute teacher, instructional assistant, cook/baker, secretary or custodian.

During the session, recruits will gain an understanding of substitute requirements, responsibilities of a substitute, how the process works and more.

Those interested will have the opportunity to ask questions and the computer lab at Central Office will be open for those who wish to apply to do so on-site.
