Substitute teachers needed in Owensboro

Local News

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – There is a nationwide teacher shortage but there is also a dire need for more substitute teachers.

Today Owensboro Public Schools hopes to change that with a Substitute Recruitment Fair.

The school district needs not only teachers subs but also instructional assistants, cooks, secretaries and bus drivers.

What are the requirements?

OPS’s Jared Revelett says, “You are not required to have a college degree to be a substitute teacher, but you do have to have 64 credit hours from an accredited university. The rest of the positions vary based on your skillset.”

If you can’t make it to today’s recruitment fair, don’t worry, OPS has these substitute days multiple times a year.
