Superintendent shares knowledge gained from school shooting

OWENSBORO, Ky (WEHT) The superintendent of Marshall County Schools recalls the events of the day two students were killed at their high school.

Marshall County Superintendent Trent Lovett spoke at OCTC Friday morning.

He talked about what happened during and after the shooting, where Bailey Holt and Preston Cope lost their lives in January of 2018.

Superintendent Lovett says things changed after the shootings and he credits students and teachers for their resiliency-

“Our students are so resilient. Our faculty has banded together and picked up each other by the bootstraps,and carried on and did the things we need to do to carry on at school.”

Lovett also talked about what the district did to improve security at their schools in response to the shooting two years ago.
