Suspect arrested in Judson St. shooting

Evansville Police have arrested a teenager on charges related to a shooting on Friday.

Police were called to the 900 block of Judson St. at 11:50 a.m. for a report of a person being shot.

EPD says the victim was walking with another person, whey they were approached by 17-year-old Devontae Jones. Jones allegedly fired several shots from a handgun and ran away. One person was shot in the shoulder. 

Police took Jones into custody at his home in the 600 block of Madison Ave. Investigators obtained a search warrant and recovered a stolen handgun inside Jones’s home.

Jones is expected to face attempted murder and possession of a stolen firearm charges. He has already been permanently waived to adult court due to prior criminal activity, so he will be charged as an adult in this case.
