Arrest made in Mount Vernon shooting


MOUNT VERNON, Ind. (WEHT) – One person is in the hospital and a man has been charged with attempted murder after an early morning shooting in Posey County.

Indiana State Police said the shooting happened around midnight with troopers responding early Wednesday morning.

Troopers said the shooting occurred in a field near West Elementary School in Mt. Vernon. The victim of the shooting made their way to a home shortly after being shot, calling 911. That person was taken to Deaconess Midtown.

Indiana State Police have arrested 36-year-old Terry Adams of Evansville. He is charged with attempted murder, according to ISP.

Around 5:45 a.m. ISP said the shooting victim was released from the hospital.

Mount Vernon Police report the shooting happened at 3rd and Parke Street.

ISP says detectives are talking to one suspect.
