SWIRCA seeking ‘angels’ to help grant wishes of local seniors this holiday season

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A local organization is giving back to the community by giving seniors in need some holiday cheer.

SWIRCA is an organization that provides services to seniors and people with disabilities. Each holiday season they set up an “Angel Tree.”

The tree has ornaments with gifts SWIRCA’s clients need.

Wishes range from clothing to toiletries to cleaning supplies to money towards their electric bill and more.

Members of the community can take an ornament, buy the gift, then drop it back off to SWIRCA to be wrapped and delivered.

“These are clients that need the most help and assistance and they don’t have family or friends that may be able for them to spend time with or get Christmas gifts from and they need these essential necessities throughout the Christmas season.”

About 200 gifts will be donated to the SWIRCA clients this year.

Volunteers can pick wish ornaments from the Angel Tree on weekdays between 8AM and 4PM through December 16th at SWIRCA Activity and Wellness Center, located at 16 W. Virginia St. in Evansville.

All unwrapped gifts should be delivered to the Activity Center by December 16th in order to be delivered by Christmas.
