Talking to your children about coronavirus

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WEHT) Latest reports from specialists have cited informing your children of what the coronavirus is and how to avoid it can drastically help with the spread of the disease.

“They are going to be hearing words in the news that are new like coronavirus, covid-19, isolation, quarantine, ” Child Life Specialist Abigail Rainey said. “All of which are not in their everyday language. So helping them understand what that is and coming from a trusted caregiver can help them make better since of what is happening and what they are hearing.”

They also advise creating a routine of practicing safe behavior is an effective way for children to learn through action.

Right now, there are not any confirmed cases of coronavirus in our Tri-State area.
