A third person has died following a crash that stemmed from a suspect fleeing from Evansville police.

Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear confirms Terrence Barker, 26, died Tuesday at St. Vincent Hospital.

Lockyear says Barker died from head injuries as a result of the crash. His death has been ruled a homicide.

The chase happened back in November. Evansville Police began pursuing Frederick McFarland, 26, after officers believed he may have been driving a stolen car. Officers tried to talk to McFarland about a possible false tag when he took off speeding through an inner-city neighborhood that resulted in a 4-minute chase.

McFarland then crashed into a car driven by Janae Carter at Monroe and Linwood. Barker and Carter’s children, Prince and Princess Carter were also inside that car. Prince and Princess Carter died in the crash. Janae Carter has since been released from the hospital for her injuries.

McFarland is scheduled to appear in court on January 3.
