(WEHT) – Over 7,000 CenterPoint Energy customers in the Tri-State were without power on Saturday as severe weather rolled through the area. Most of the affected costumers have had power restored.

The company said the initial large outage was caused by a lightning strike hitting a primary wire.

Officials said 2,000 customers in Vanderburgh County were without power, most of them in the Darmstadt and west Evansville area.

Officials said crews restored power after a couple of hours.
