Three million dollar renovation planned for Jack Fisher Park in Owensboro

News

Owensboro Parks and Recreation officials are planning renovations at one of their most used parks.

They’re looking to improve Jack Fisher Park just off of Highway 60.

Parks Director Amanda Rogers says they’re planning to improve turf and drainage at ball fields, adding parking spaces and add a new playground.

The project is estimated to cost about three million dollars.

Several hundred thousand dollars is already saved to cover costs.

“It’s something that we’ve known was coming for several years. We looked at trying to prioritize that within the entire city budget. But obviously, there’s no shortage of needs and wants within our city budget, but often times there is a shortage of money to get all of the needs and wants done. So, we’re at a point where we need to address this to stay competitive in the market.”

The final plans will be a part of the next city budget presented later this year.
