HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Two people are in custody after police say they robbed a liquor store in Henderson.
23-year-old Junior Balan and 20-year-old Genesson Beraut are in the Henderson County Jail.
Eyewitness News was the only media at the scene as police arrested those suspects on Highway 41 around 2:30PM.
Police shut down traffic on 41 southbound in Henderson today after they say suspects robbed a liquor store and took off in a car.
The suspects only made it blocks away thanks to some quick thinking employees.
“Both of them was just coming in like a normal customer does, every day,” said cashier Kimberly McClure.
It started out like every other day.
“He was asking questions about pints, and fifths and stuff…well, his main thing was Courvoisier. So I told him I had pints behind the counter.”
And that’s where everything changed. She says she turned around to get the customer his bottle …
“And when I turned back around, that’s when he had the gun in my face.”
He demanded all her money, she says but at first she didn’t believe it.
“It’s daylight. You wouldn’t think anybody would do anything like that during the day.”
She says a second suspect had her co-worker pinned in the back of the store.
After the suspects got the money. They left through the front door. But they didn’t get very far.
“We chased them down the road ourselves! And I’m on the phone with the police at the same time.”
It’s no wonder police pulled their car over only blocks away.
“I hope that little 150 dollars was worth it!”
As for Kimberly, it was back to work and business as usual.
“They’re not going to stop me from making my money!”
