The nation’s largest toy store chain shuts its doors for good Friday after 70 years in business.

Toys “R” Us along with Babies “R” Us closed all of its stores in the United States including the two Evansville stores.

Friday, customers were surprised when they showed up to the store to find it closed.

Eyewitness News was there as some employees left the store for the last time.

“When it finally came that the all the Toys “R” Us in America are closing it was kind of like wow, I can’t believe it,” said employee Jesse Leon.

Toys “R” Us will still have some facilities in other countries.

The retailer also tweeted there could be new things coming from the brand in the future.
