Traveling City Hall focuses on water main project

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Wednesday night was the first night of monthly Traveling City Hall meetings in Evansville this year.

Evansville Water and Sewer Utility officials presented an overview of the First Avenue water main replacement project. That project is estimated to include 7,900 feet of new water main pipe.

The new water line will be installed from the Pigeon Creek Bridge north to Ivy Tech.

“We just want the community to be aware of the project. It’s going to have an impact on traffic, the way people can turn to get in and out of areas. We won’t be shutting off access to any properties, but you might have to drive around to avoid making a left turn,” explained Ella Johnson-Watson.

She says the estimated cost for the project is 8 to 9 million dollars.

The project is expected to start in May and be finished in the summer of 2021.
