NEW HARMONY, Ind. (WEHT) – A Tri-State humanitarian will receive Indiana’s highest honor later this month.
Dr. George Rapp, of New harmony, has been named the recipient of the 2019 Sachem Award. The award recognizes those with a lifetime of excellence and their impact on Indiana.
Dr. Rapp has served as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at St. Vincent and Director of the Scoliosis Clinic at Riley Hospital.
He and his wife, Peggy, now live in Indianapolis.
His life motto is “Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, for all the people you can, for as long as you can.”
Gov. Eric Holcomb will present the award on August 27th in Indianapolis.
Past Sachem Award winners include Holocaust survivor, Eva Kor, Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, the former President of the University of Notre Dame and World Statesman, and Amos C. Brown, III, a Radio host and civic leader.
