Tri-State veterans receive recognition for service, sacrifice in Korean War

Local News

HANSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Several veterans have received recognition for their service and sacrifice in the Korean War.

The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs held a ceremony in Hanson, handing out the “Ambassador for Peace Medal and Certificate.”

The award comes – in part – from the South Korean government, thanking American service members for defending its country.

“No matter where we go, the American soldier has been the catalyst for democracy all around the world. Even to this day.”

The Korean War is often called the forgotten war.

And many of these veterans never received the recognition they truly deserved.
