A stay-at-home mom from Fort Branch, Indiana is featured in a famous image from the rescue and relief efforts following Hurricane Florence.
Volunteer Amber Hersel was working with the Civilian Crisis Response Tema when she helped rescue 7-year-old Keiyana Cromartie and her family from their flooded home.
The rescue took place in James City, North Carolina.
On Wednesday, Eyewitness News’ Ashlyn Irons sat down with local hero Amber Hersel returned home from the Carolinas.
